Visit to the Calanques of the Côte Bleue and the Frioul Archipelago - Morning

Departing from Vieux-Port, embark on a discovery of the Calanques of the Côte Bleue and the Frioul archipelago.

This tour will take you across the Northern Bay of Marseille to reach the coves of the Côte Bleue.

You will have the opportunity to admire the 19th-century port facilities that bear witness to Marseille's golden age. This district, known as Euromediterranée, has undergone significant transformations symbolised by the CMA-CGM tower.

The exploration of the Côte Bleue begins at the port of L'Estaque, which inspired many painters, including Monticelli, Cézanne, Dufy and Braque… These artists developed the early stages of Cubism there.

This rocky coastline, dominated by limestone cliffs, takes its name from the beauty of its clear blue waters. Its charming and discreet coves invite you to peace and contemplation, during an electric boat trip.

We will stop at one of the calanques for a swim and to admire this Mediterranean environment, where wild nature alternates with small harbours dotted with fishermen's cabins.

We will continue this cruise by discovering the Frioul archipelago. Made up of 4 islands: Pomègues, Ratonneau, If and Tiboulèn. They belong to the area adjacent to the Calanques National Park. These islands have an arid, windy microclimate in which fauna and flora have managed to develop. This rugged terrain reveals coves, sandy inlets and rocky cliffs. This natural heritage is closely linked to the history of Marseille. We will take the time to recall its rich past: the port quarantine with the Caroline hospital, «the Marseille Alcatraz», and the Château d'If, before returning to Vieux-Port.
