Scattering of ashes at sea
Would you like to honour the last wishes of a departed loved one?
Eco Calanques offers its services to scatter ashes at sea. The captain will take you offshore from Marseille aboard their quiet hybrid-electric vessel to honour your departed loved one.
The outing takes place in the morning, from 10:00 to 12:00, departing from Marseille.
Flat rate for ash scattering or urn immersion:
€600 (tax included)
For any urn immersion, the use of a biodegradable salt urn is mandatory.

It is not compulsory to entrust the entire organisation to a funeral director.
Once the cremation has been carried out and the urn returned to the family,a captain will take charge of the offshore trip and accompany you to the regulated area.
Eco Calanques takes care of the nautical side:
- provision of the boat;
- navigation to the regulated zone;
- support for the family;
- organisation of the ceremony;
- biodegradable urn immersion or ash scattering.
If you are already working with a funeral company, we step in to ensure the trip at sea goes as smoothly as possible.
The the scattering of ashes at sea is governed by French regulations and takes place in several stages.

Prior authorisation
Before any ceremony takes place, a declaration must be made to the town hall of the municipality where the deceased was born.

Regulatory distance
The scattering of ashes takes place more than 300 metres from the shore. The immersion of a biodegradable urn takes place approximately 3 nautical miles (6 km) from the coast.

Biodegradable urn
Urns made of salt, wood, cardboard, sand or plant-based materials are suitable for immersion at sea.

Sea ceremony
The captain will accompany you on board to the authorised area for a personalised tribute in a peaceful and respectful setting.
Each sea scattering ceremony is designed in accordance with the wishes of the deceased and their family.
